US 36 Spring Cleanup at The Scout Hut
6096 East County Road 100 South Avon, IN 46123
This is a conservation service project to clean up the area along US 36. INDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program helps significantly reduce the roadside trash problem on Indiana’s highways. This year the PLC moved that the Troop should adopt a portion of a highway in Indiana and assist to clean it up. A very noble cause! The program coordinates with community groups that provide trash and litter pickup on one-mile long sections of non-interstate Hoosier highways twice a year. Our unit has been given a stretch of US 36 from CR 525E stretching one mile to the west towards Danville.
INDOT area coordinators will supply the Unit with safety vests, road work signs, and trash bags to help get the job done, while the Troop provides the manpower. In return, INDOT will place a recognition panel sign on the portion of highway adopted by the Troop.
We will meet at The Scout Hut and then Transport Scouts in a few vehicles to the Clean up location.
- We’ll need a few parents to help, mainly to walk with the kids for their mile clean-up stretch
- Pizza will be served for lunch
- Please wear bright colored and old clothes.
- Wear shoes that can get wet. Even if it hasn’t rained for a few days, the grass usually has dew on it.
