We’re excited to help you and your Scout to explore the idea of a Discover Scuba Diving Weekend at Gilboa Quarry. This event will combine outdoor adventures, camping, and an introduction to scuba diving in a way that’s both fun and educational. Here’s what such a weekend could look like:
Discover Scuba Diving
- Experience scuba diving with certified instructors from Ray Scuba.
- Cost: $40–$65 per person, which includes all rental equipment.
- If scouts want a wetsuit, it’s an additional $20 per person. However, we’ll reduce this to $10 per person if the scouts wash the wetsuits after use at the quarry.
Camping & Quarry Fees
- Camping at Gilboa Quarry is approximately $15 per person.
- Quarry entry for water activities is approximately $30 per person.
- Air fills for scuba tanks are approximately $10 each.
- We’re also working with the quarry to inquire about bulk discounted rates.
Merit Badge Opportunities
- Scouts could work on badges like Camping, Conservation, or Nature by incorporating activities such as fire-building, conservation projects, or water ecology studies.
Conservation Education
- Dive into hands-on activities about protecting aquatic ecosystems and learn how divers contribute to environmental stewardship, which can help with Conservation Service Hours.
Customizable Plans
- This weekend will be tailored to meet the specific goals and interests of Troop 306 Scouts. Whether it’s a one-day introduction to scuba or a full weekend of activities, there are many ways to make this event special.
