Hou Koda Camporee Backpacking at Ransburg

Destination:

Boy Scout Fall Camporee. Webelos II Dens also invited to participate with proper leadership.

  • Be sure to look at out Backpacking page under the "Adventure" menu tab.
  • All supplies must be packed in
  • Each scout is required to pack their own food
  • Dinner will be provided by the Camporee (pig roast) so no need to pack dinner
  • The trip will be about 2 miles in on Saturday, and 2 miles out Sunday morning
  • We will have a chapel service on the trail Sunday morning
  • Will be starting and ending in The Ransburg parking lot

Meals

  • Each adult/scout will need to pack in lunch, breakfast, and snacks
  • Dinner will be provided at the camp site by the camporee staff (no need to pack this in)

Basic Items

  • Backpack
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Tent (can bring own or share with other scouts using troop's tents)

Food and Drink

  • Water bottles
  • Hydration pack (like Camelbak) (optional)
  • Optional - Stove and fuel IF YOU NEED IT.  Mr. Jackson will have others with him.
  • Cup or mug
  • Lightweight bowl and spoon
  • Multi-tool or utility knife
  • Small cloth for cleaning pots
  • Mess Kit for eating

Clothing

  • Trail-Running shoes or hiking boots (broken in)
  • Sandals or lightweight camp shoes for once in camp
  • Socks (with 2 additional changes)
  • Optional - Synthetic long-underwear bottoms and tops (colder weather)
  • Underwear
  • Synthetic/wicking t-shirt
  • Poncho or rain/wind jacket and pants
  • Jacket or coat in case it turns cold
  • Bandana

Misc

  • Headlamp/flash light
  • Toilet paper in Ziploc bag
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Toothbrush and paste
  • Personal First-aid kit (bandages, aspirin, antiseptic wipes, poison ivy treatment, moleskin, tweezers)
  • Pack rain cover or garbage bag (or use your poncho)
  • Cordage

  • Trekking poles or walking stick
  • Sun/rain hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Journal & pen
  • Camera, film
  • Ground cloth
  • Duct tape
  • Watch
  • Whistle
  • Contact lens wearers: bring solution and back-up glasses
