Fall Camporee Backpacking at Adventure Point at Camp Ransburg

This is a backpacking Fall Camporee.

The theme for Fall Camporee will be backpacking, so start the backpacking skill research now! We'll camp at Ransburg "base camp" on Friday night, then break camp and hike to Adventure Point with programs and events along the trail, and set up camp for Saturday night at Adventure Point. There will be a campfire Saturday evening. Our troop will be offering the Chapel service Sunday morning. We'll then break camp and hike back to "base camp" for departure home.

This will be simulating the actual backpacking experience. Given this process, it is very important that you pack appropriately and have the proper gear. ABSOLUTELY NO VEHICLES will be allowed at Adventure Point. This will be a real backpacking experience. No electronics please. Have the appropriate weight in your pack.

Plan on carrying 3-liters of water per person, all your food, Tent, Sleeping Bag, Rain Gear, and Backpack. Latrines will be available.

Don't forget, backpacks can be rented from the scout shop! The Scout Shop locations and contact numbers.

FIRE BY FRICTION EVENT: Anyone wanting to participate in a fire by friction event should come prepared to start a fire by friction. Burning materials must be natural and obtained during the Camporee from the surrounding area. Event will be held at Adventure Point sometime between camp setup at 3:00 and campfire at 6:00 -- Start Practicing and good Luck! Due to the state fire ban, we'll only be getting to the spark stage of "fire by friction".
